Whale spotting in the MidCoast region

Whales at Forster, Amaroo Cruises

Winter and whales go hand in hand on the Mid North Coast of NSW and on 13 June, whales were spotted just off Main Beach in Forster and on 16 June at Crowdy Bay.  The whale watching season is officially open for 2018!

The season from June to November provides the ideal time to spot and there are great land based whale watching sights found along the coastline, be it beaches, on top of towering sand dunes or on rocky headlands.

Getting close to see these gentle giants is something to be added to your bucket list and once seen, great appreciation for the Humpbacks, Minke, Southern Right, Sei and Brydes whales becomes abundant.

It’s also worth considering a cruise to sight whales and dolphins as they are constantly monitoring the whale migration.

Amaroo Cruises offers a 100% whale guarantee during the whale migration season so if no whales are sighted on your cruise then a full refund will be issued (conditions apply).

Reel Ocean Adventures have a cruise capacity of 22 people on their boat, ‘Illlusion’.   The advantage of watching on this boat is that you’ll always have that rail side position due to the open deck which allows full walk around access.

Whale sightings are listed regularly on the National Parks Wild About Whales website so take a day to whale spot along the coast this season, we’re sure you won’t be disappointed.
